5: OWU Representatives
Theresa Byrd represents OWU on
the Five Colleges of Ohio Library Committee. This committee
consists of all library directos in the Ohio 5 Consortium, the CONSORT
Systems Manager, and special consortial employees. The Executive Director
of the Ohio 5 also is invited to meetings. The Committee usually meets
six times per year. The chair of the committee (2003-04 Director Chair:
Scottie Cochrane, Denison) rotates every two years according to the
following schedule: Denison, Kenyon1, Ohio Wesleyan, Oberlin, Kenyon2,
Wooster. The next director in succession will serve as committee secretary
and will serve in place of the Director Chair as necessary.

Della Lana represent OWU on the Access Services Subcommittee.
This subcommittee has responsibility for recommending and implementing
all access, circulation, and use policies within the consortium for
all media (monographs, recorded media, etc.). The subcommittee also
discusses issues relating to reserves and electronic reserves (ERes).
Broader issues relating to circulation policies can be explored in
this larger group. The subcommittee consists of a minimum of two representatives
from each school, the CONSORT Systems Manager, and is chaired by the
Director Liaison.
Xudong Jin, and Tom
Green represent OWU on the Collection Development and Management
Subcommittee. This subcommittee has responsibility for recommending
and implementing all collection development policies and procedures
-- both for print and electronic resources relating to the consortium.
It also handles collection management issues, particularly those related
to CONStor, our shared storage facility. This new committee has oversight
of our combined collections, from acqusition to storage, and can work
toward providing a cohesive management plan for cooperative work.
A task force willl exist within this group to manage the day-to-day
operations of the current consortial collection development grant.
The subcommittee consists of a minimum of two representatives from
each school, the CONSORT Systems Manager, the CONSORT Coordinator
of Cooperative Collection Development and is chaired by the Director
Liaison (Christopher Barth, Kenyon).
Xudong Jin and Joy
He represents OWU on the CONSORT Catalog Subcommittee.
This subcommittee has responsibility for recommending and implementing
issues regarding the CONSORT Online Catalog, including cataloging
issues, systems issues, and human interface design issues. The subcommittee
consists of a minimum two representatives from each school; one from
a technical services background and one from a public services background,
and chaired by the CONSORT Systems Manager (Michael Upfold), who also
serves as Director Lisiaon to this committee.
Joy He and Martha
Powers represent OWU on the Government Documents Subcommittee.
This subcommittee has responsibility for managing consortial efforts
regarding government documents. It remains unchanged from the current
configuration. The subcommittee consists of a minimum of two representatives
from each school, the CONSORT Systems Manager, and is chaired by the
Director Liaison (Megan Fitch, Kenyon).
Paul Burnam represents OWU
on the Reference and Instruction Subcommittee. This subcommittee
has responsibility for [chat reference and library instruction initiatives]
within the consortium. The subcommittee consists of a minimum of one
representative from each school, the CONSORT Systems Manager, and
is chaired by the Director Liaison (Ray English, Oberlin).
Carol Holliger and Bonnie
Mahle represent OWU on the Emergency Preparedness Task
Force. This task force has been created to examine and prepare consortial
plans for responding to local or regional emergencies within our libraries.
Once a plan has been developed, the future of the task force will
be reexamined by the Directors. Perhaps it will evolve into a standing
committee if a need is felt. The task force consists of a minimum
of two representatives from each school, the CONSORT Systems Manager,
and is chaired by the Director Liaison (Damon Hickey, Wooster).
