- Science Initiative
-Science Building Committee meeting;
library space issue. We have been alloted only 6,690 sq ft. According
to earlier architectural plans, in a bestcase scenerio, we would
have 14,000 sq ft, in our worst case scenerio, only 11,000 sq
ft. The 6,690 sq ft is clearly less than the worst scenario which
is a problem. Theresa has been in discussion with library colleagues
(Swarthmore, Earlham, Franklin & Marshall) regarding space
issues. If the space remains as currently allocated, OWU will
need to lead the discussions to build a storage facility with
the Ohio 5 colleges and the science collection will have to be
weeded.
- East Ohio Methodist Conference Negotiations
-talks continue
-Methesco's offer of housing only tempory
and East conference will have to start paying rent for space
-will need approximately 900 sq ft of
schelving.
-75% of their material we already own,
so due to space limitations a weeding of their collection would
be required. Because they are not sure they want this to be a
permenant home, they are reluctant to do the weeding.
- moldy books also an issue, and they
will have to deal with the mold on their books
-DePauw in Indiana an example of a joint
